Lately, I’ve felt off.

Not in a huge, life-altering way… just that quiet, constant overwhelm that seems to follow me from room to room.

You know the feeling.

I have my Skylight calendar set up (which I still love), and I’ve got all my chores scheduled to repeat every month so I don’t have to think about them. In theory, it should make life easier.

But lately? I’ve still been falling behind.

Between signing up to volunteer at school, baking things, keeping up with the kids’ schedules… it’s like everything just kept stacking up. And instead of staying on top of it, I started putting things off.

And then putting them off again.

Until suddenly, even the small things felt overwhelming.

That was my wake-up call.

Not that I need a full life overhaul—but that I need a reset that actually fits my life right now.

So that’s what I’ve been doing.

Not anything extreme. Just small shifts that help me feel a little more like myself again.

I started by taking a look at my chore list and being honest about it. Not what I think I should be able to handle—but what actually works in this season. Giving myself a little breathing room instead of setting myself up to feel behind.

I’ve been opening the windows during the day, even if it’s just for a few minutes. It sounds simple, but it changes the whole feel of the house.

I’ve been trying to pause instead of constantly moving to the next thing. Sitting by the window with a book. Stepping outside for a minute. Just giving my mind a break.

And I’ve been getting the kids more involved in picking up, because it doesn’t all have to fall on me.

None of this is complicated.

But it’s helping.

Because the truth is, when I’m running on empty, I’m not showing up as my best self—for my kids, my home, or anything else.

And I don’t want to live in that constant state of catching up.

I just want things to feel a little lighter.

If you’ve been feeling the same way, this is your reminder—you don’t need to reset everything.

Just start with one small shift.

Open the windows. Clear one space. Take five minutes for yourself.

It’s enough to start.
