There’s something about this time of year that feels a little… unpredictable.
One day it’s sunny and you’re outside all afternoon, and the next day it’s raining, everyone’s stuck inside, and the kids are bouncing off the walls by 2pm. Add in all the together time with Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and end-of-school activities, and you either end up making really fun memories… or wondering why everyone is suddenly in a mood.
That’s exactly why I love having a go-to game on hand.
And for us, that game has been Wavelength.

This one has easily been one of my favorites over the past couple of years—not just because it’s fun, but because it actually gets everyone involved. No one is sitting there bored or scrolling their phone. You’re laughing, guessing, second-guessing… and sometimes questioning how your friends’ brains even work.
How It Usually Goes at Our House
Most of the time, we’re playing this with friends.
And without fail, it turns into one of those nights where you’re laughing so hard your stomach hurts.

We’ll start off playing “normally” in teams, and then somewhere along the way, things get competitive in the funniest way. People start defending their guesses like it’s a life-or-death decision, and somehow the most random clues make complete sense in the moment.
And then there are the times it’s just the two of us.
Yes… you can absolutely play this as a couple.
There’s a cooperative version, and honestly, we do that a lot. It’s such an easy, low-effort way to spend time together without just defaulting to TV at the end of the night.
What Makes This Game So Good
It’s one of those games that sounds confusing when you explain it—but once you play one round, it clicks.
Here’s the simple version:
You split into teams, and one person is the “psychic.”
They’re given two opposite ideas—like “role model” vs. “bad influence.” Then they secretly see where a target falls on that spectrum and have to give a clue to help their team guess the right spot.
That’s where it gets interesting.
Because the clues? They can be anything.
And somehow, what makes perfect sense in your head doesn’t always land the same way with your team.
Which is exactly why it’s so fun.
Why It’s Perfect for This Time of Year
- It works for small or bigger groups
- It’s easy to learn (no long instructions)
- It doesn’t take forever to play
- You can be as competitive—or as chill—as you want
And most importantly… it gives you something to do together.
Especially on those days when the weather doesn’t cooperate or you just need a reset at home.
A Simple Idea to Try
If you’ve got a free night coming up—whether it’s just you and your husband, or you’re having friends over—pull out a game instead of turning on a show.
It doesn’t have to be complicated.
But I promise… those are the nights that end up being the most fun.
